Energy Bites

Energy bites are one of the healthy snacks, packed with nutrients. These are rich in Proteins, Calcium, Fibres, Iron, and Omega-3 fatty acids. You can make these bites at home in less than 10 minutes. These are free from preservatives and made using no butter and Sugar. These tasty and Nutritious bites are the perfect mid-meal snack. 

Ingredients:

For making Peanut Jaggery  Energy bites:
Roasted Peanuts with skin1 Cup
Roasted Sesame seeds1 Cup
Organic Jaggery 3/4thCup
Cardamom Powder1 tsp(Optional)
For making Date and nut energy bites:
Organic Pitted dates2 Cups
Roasted walnuts½ Cup
Roasted almonds½ Cup
Roasted Cashews½ Cup
Flax seeds2 Tbsp 
Cocoa Powder2 Tbsp

Procedure:

For making Peanut, jaggery energy bites:

  • In a food processor , add Sesame seeds, peanuts and jaggery
  • You may increase the quantity of jaggery to increase the sweetness
  • Adding cardamom powder is completely optional
  • Turn on food processor on a pulse on 
  • Slowly increase the speed and mix till the mixture leaves oil 
  • Check the consistency
  • Take a spoonful of mixture on your hand 
  • If it binds to form a small ball, the mixture is ready
  • Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl
  • Roll the mixture to small bite size balls
  •  You can also use a cokie cutter to make bites of your favorite shape
  • These bites are rich in Iron, calcium and Proteins

Tips:

  • Roast the peanuts and Sesame seeds on a low flame
  •  Do not remove the skin of peanuts
  • You can add  2 tbsp dry grated coconut

For making Date and nut energy bites:

  • Add Walnuts, Cashewnuts, Almonds, Flax seeds and Cocoa powder to a food processor
  • Mix all ingredients on a pulse mode
  • Add dates in batches
  • Increase the speed of a food processor and mix till you get the mixture of binding consistency
  • Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl
  • Roll in to small bite sized balls

Tips:

  • Dry roast the nuts on a low flame
  • You can add roasted nuts of your choice
  • You can add Orange zest to the above mixture, as Chocolate and orange flavors go together well 
  • You can add Chia seeds or Sunflower seeds

If you are allergic to nuts, you can make the energy bites using dates and oats. Vegan chocolate chips and chia seeds, sunflower seeds or flax seeds can be added as per your choice.
